Here’s the 3 methods I use to fill bottles from my kegs. I do this for competitions, sending people home with beer, and to age homebrews!
I always bottle off of my carbonated kegs now so you don’t get sediment at the bottom. I really hate shipping beers and then seeing someone reviewed them after they’ve been completely shaken up with a cross-country trip and they’re all cloudy. To prevent that we bottle off of kegs. All the sediment is at the bottom of the keg, it’s not in your beer. I use a floating dip tube so that everything stays at the top.
The three ways are…
First way is just a hose off the tap. That’s how I fill my growlers.
Second way is with a Blickman beer gun.
Third way is with Great Fermentations counter pressure filler which is called a tap cooler.
