Brewing for Good: Black Is Beautiful Imperial Oatmeal Stout Benefitting ACLU

This was a special brewing session. With the help of a few friends, Ash and Jenny, I brewed live on Instagram a version of Weathered Soul’s ‘Black is Beautiful’ Imperial Oatmeal Stout to raised donations for the ACLU. We managed to raise $500 in only a few hours.

If you want to join us in donating to the ACLU (you can consider it a personal favor to me if you enjoy my videos) click here: https://action.aclu.org/give/fund-every-fight-ahead. While I often brew solo, beer is about community and the beautiful thing about LA is how diverse our beer community is. I’m proud to be a part of homebrew clubs like SoCal Cerveceros who advocate for inclusivity and representation. I’ll stand by them when I say: We are Anti-Racism and Pro-Homebrew! It’s not enough to say that though- we all have to work to bring positive change in our respective industries and for me, it’s through beer. That’s why I joined San Antonio’s Weathered Soul’s Brewing initiative “Black is Beautiful,” which is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community to bring awareness to the injustices that the black community and people of color face daily.

To get involved or find out more details on the campaign which now has over 180 breweries involved – please go to https://blackisbeautiful.beer/

Let’s do our part.

Note: This brew day video is a condensed version of the original livestream but I made sure to leave in all of the songs Jenny made up about brewing.
