MoreBeer’s Homebrew Starter Kit

This is a run of the mill beginner brew kit, Even at $70 you can make great beer with this kit. Most brewers start out with something like this either from a shop or cobbled together from stray buckets. It’s a perfectly inexpensive way for a brewer to get their feet wet before committing to the equipment addiction most of us homebrewers have.

Clawhammer Supply’s 20 Gallon Electric Homebrew Kit

What you should gift yourself or someone you REALLY like: Clawhammer 240v 20 Gallon Electric Home Brewing System. This has been my favorite upgrade to my brewing. 240V power heats up even faster than propane so if you have a 240V plug I highly recommend switching to an electric system! My brewday went from 6 hours to about 4, and that includes cleaning!

Spunding Valve

If you’re getting into the pressurized fermentation game, you have to have a spunding valve. This device maintains your chosen pressure in your fermenter or keg. Yes, you can totally ferment in a keg with one of these!

Floating Dip Tube

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with my floating dip tubes. This will be on every gift guide I put out because I love them! This style of dip tube has a floating ball that allows your beer to be pulled from the top of the keg so you don’t get trub and yeast in your glass after the keg has settled. As do most things on this list, it allows you to drink your beer faster!

INTLLAB Magnetic Stirrer Stainless Steel Magnetic Mixer

For the budding yeast scientist, a stir plate is a must have. The amount of money I save harvesting and reusing my yeast could pay for this in 3 brew days! A stir plate helps oxygenate your starter so that your yeast can get all fat and happy, and make your delicious beer. And If you really like your gift recipient you’re going to want to get them some extra magnets, they end up in the fermenter more than you can imagine.

9.2 Gallon Impact Conical Fermenter

Pressurized fermentation is my new favorite thing. This fermenter is an inexpensive way to dip your feet into the joys of being able to brew a beer in a single week…that’s right from grain to keg in 1 week. Another amazing thing about pressurized fermentation is that you can ferment lagers at room temperature and ales at super high temperatures with no off flavors! It’s the best thing that’s every happened to the quality of my beer.

Brewbuilt X1 Uni Pro Conical Fermenter

This is my go to fermenter. I have the 14 gallon version to go with my 20 gallon Clawhammer system. This fermenter has heating and cooling built in using Peltier technology so you don’t have to have a glycol system to maintain your fermentation temperature!  You can also ferment under pressure in this vessel, you just need  the pressure fermentation kit

A Woman’s Place is in the Brewhouse: A Forgotten History of Alewives, Brewsters, Witches, and CEOs by Tara Nurin

Tara Nurin’s book A Woman’s Place is in the Brewhouse is a must read! The book dives into the history of women in brewing, debunks myths and offers a great reminder why women belong in the brewhouse.

How To Brew by John J. Palmer

This is the bible of brewing books! It will go from the simplest explanation of what you need to do…to the most intense water chemistry I’ve seen. It’s a necessity for any homebrewer.

Radical Brewing by Randy Mosher

I love how this book is written. Randy is a great storyteller and takes a lighthearted approach to brewing that I admire. Once you’re comfortable with the book “How to Brew,” this should be the next book you buy. It gets into the creativity inherent in brewing rather than the technical side.
